What Singapore’s transport system has to deliver

PPF fireside chat on transport

Attended the PPF Fireside Chat on the topic of Transport on 11 October 2026.

Singapore’s transport system is more than infrastructure; it underpins our economic competitiveness, connectivity and everyday livelihoods.

During the discussion there was an emphasis on sustaining our maritime and aviation ecosystems while keeping public transport accessible, reliable and financially sustainable.

So what stood out to me was the tension between affordability, fair wages for transport workers and long-term service quality.

Good policymaking requires more than balancing costs. It requires more public consultation, and public understanding, ensuring that progress remains human-centric.

Ultimately, public trust depends on both understanding and delivery of our citizens
