Visiting the Albatross Files exhibition

I was honoured to have had the opportunity yesterday to visit the Albatross Files exhibition as part of the same tour group as Minister of State Jasmin Lau and grassroots leaders. The exhibition tour was led by Mr Gene Tan , Chief Librarian of the NLB, who shared valuable insights into the historical significance of the records and the broader importance of preserving Singapore’s collective memory. Being guided through the exhibition in such a setting made the experience especially meaningful, as it was not merely an introduction to archival materials, but also a reminder of how history, the pioneering efforts of forebears such as Mr Lee Kuan Yew and Mr Goh Keng Swee in building Singapore, and national identity are closely connected. It was a thoughtful and enriching visit that gave me a deeper appreciation of the role libraries and archives play in documenting Singapore’s story.
